— Construction and Demolition Waste Management

–A waste management system system should be developed to divert debris from construction and demolition from land fills to recycling centers or salvage facilities.  There are many options available for construction and demolition debris so the developers need to determine which is best for their project in order to efficiently utilize space, minimize truck traffic, and control costs.

–Developers should utilize take back programs (Invista for example) to recycle deconstruction materials such as carpets and shingles.  These programs are free to use.

–When working with old buildings in particular, all regulations need to be followed to prevent the release of asbestos into the air.

–Developers should reuse a percentage of their salvage or refurbished materials in construction.
