The Immigrant Job Search.

Although this post is not a reading response, I thought it would be appropriate as it pertains to our class discussions and I wanted to share it with the rest of the class. I came across a very interesting article today that reminded me of the many discussions we had about the lives of immigrants and how they make their lives in this new territory. You can find the article in the below link.

This NY Times article focuses on the presence of employment agencies that exist primarily in Chinatown, although there are many around the city. I have passed this Doyers St. employment agency many many times, yet I have never noticed it. After reading this article, I learned that this employment agency helps immigrants from various countries, not just from China. I also like that this article contains real accounts of immigrants speaking about their experiences, which help shed light to the public about the struggles many have to face just to earn a couple bucks. It also correlates to our discussion when we talked about the reasons why these immigrants are so willing to face such struggles in a new country and why they want to be here so much.
