In seminar two, students investigate the role of immigration and migration in shaping the New York City’s identity, past, present, and future. Extensive reading and writing assignments are enriched by visits to the different cultural sites, as well as other field trips to specific neighborhoods and the culminating project of this seminar is the collaborative construction of a research paper and a neighborhood website, which will be exhibited at a final common event.

On this site, you’ll find applications to play with that will help you visualize the data you will be collecting throughout the semester. This process of visualization should compliment the reading and research that you are doing and it will help you discover themes for your research paper. On this site, you can also think through elements of website design and presentation.  Here, I can help you edit and translate your research into a neighborhood website that will accessible to a wider audience.
