Simple sentence. Consists of the bare minimum; subject, contracted verb, and preposition. But this quote says so much to me. We are faced with so much in life; so much struggle, so much misunderstanding, trials, hard times, and bitter moments. And it never seems to end. In the darkest of moments, it just all seems like a never-ending circle of…despair. To quote one of my favorite movies, Blow, “Sometimes you’re flush and sometimes you’re bust, and when you’re up, it’s never as good as it seems, and when you’re down, you never think you’ll be up again, but life goes on.” And that is exactly what this quote meant to me. Life goes on. We will go on. The moment passes. No matter what, there will come an ending point. And best of all: two years, ten days, a fortnight, maybe a month from now, you won’t feel the same way you do now, things will be different, and suddenly what you once saw as a mountain becomes just a tiny molehill. Thinking of the passing of time and the assurance of movement always gets me through uncomfortable times. “Even the day after tomorrow will one day be yesterday…this too shall pass.” I will go on. 🙂
