For our project we did Richmond Hill which is a neighborhood in Queens. The neighborhood is predominately made up of people from Guyana and Trinidad. In our project we focuses on Music and Food of Guyana and Trinidad. Food and music are both a form of culture and art. Food, although it may seem like a cultural thing is also an art. The way the food is made, that in it of itself is an art. In our video we are eating fried rice from a local restaurant. Music is an art form as well, from the language, and lyrical content to the actual rhythm in the song. In our video (which we didn’t show in class) we show several genres of musical art that are popular in Guyana and Trinidad. They include Dancehall Reggae, Soca, and Chutney.
