The epicenter of Puerto Rican migration, the place where nearly 60% of the Puerto Ricans formed their home, was in East Harlem, known as “El Barrio”. A smaller amount of Puerto Ricans lived in the Lower East Side, however their smaller numbers were the cause for the fact that they never wielded significant political organizations as an ethnic bloc[1].
