The poem I had chosen is titled “Rain”, and was written by David Semanki. I was hesitant to read this poem at first because of the title alone, however, as soon as I finished reading the poem, I had to read it again. I wanted to know if the speaker of the poem is still recovering from the moment they lost the person they are describing in the poem. A line that brought me a lot of emotion was, “you’re teaching me to live apart from you, which has reduced to breakfast dishes crowding the nightstand” (page 246). I felt the sorrow from the poem yet the hope from one of the last lines, “It’s much easier now to reconcile the scene of when I first saw you.”

Yes, lots of feeling in this poem. Good one.
