On Graffiti

So I found this amazing video about a graffiti artist in France who goes by the name Princess Hijab. While I didn’t necessarily love the video itself as a piece of art (I found it a little over dramatic without enough drama) I found the work of Princess Hijab very interesting. We seem to talk a lot about graffiti on this blog so I thought this would be a great addition to the dialogue.

Princess Hijab’s trademark is drawing Hijabs and Burkas on subway billboards. I found a short article on the video here

Another graffiti artist! there have actually always been lots of graffiti artists. I think it is interesting the way the “new” brand of graffiti artist is not just about leaving a tag, but leaving a tag with some larger meaning beyond just self-identification.

Speaking of graffiti, an artist who goes by the alias of Mister Brainwash has many works that incorporate this art. The conflict with him, though, is the fact that we essentially uses existing works of art and slightly alters them, thus people question if he should even be considered an artist.

Here are a few pieces that feature graffiti by Mister Brainwash.
