One-Page Group Reports

Okay, here is another “ongoing” assignment that is the result of the great job everyone is doing on the Blog. There are simply too many interesting places to go to and things to see as a group. I also want to provide you with opportunities to write short, graded assignments. So here is another assignment:

1 – form small groups of 3 – 5 students and attend something that is NOT on the required list. Check with me first, to see if the outing qualifies.

2 – make your own arrangements and go to the event or venue.

3 – sit down as a group and discuss the trip.

4 – each students writes a one-page report on the outing discussing the details of the trip, and the significance of it, and referencing other experiences of the class (including things from the blog, class discussion, readings, etc.)

Grading: These will receive a letter grade. You should plan to make a minimum of 1 such outing over the course of the semester. Students are encouraged to participate in MORE THAN ONE such outing. (1 is acceptable, 2 is good, 3 is plenty.) Any student who misses a “scheduled” activity can use one of these outings to make up for up to 2 missed outings. “Make-up” outings do not count toward the required outing for that student.
