New Registration Info Update – October 16, 2024

Timeline: Please bear in mind these dates are all tentative.  

  • Wed, October 23rd
    • Check CUNYfirst or Schedule Builder for your enrollment appointment: the exact date and time you may begin registering.  
    • You can browse the Spring 2025 courses. You may use CUNY Global Search to find available courses as well as Schedule Builder. You may also begin to save schedules in Schedule Builder.
  • Wed, October 30th
    • Spring 2025 priority registration begins. 
    •  Academic departments may begin early registration for their classes.  

 The following changes will be made to Spring 2025 registration: 

  • The registration process for some honors “H” classes is coming soon. See the new page Honors Courses.  
  • Macaulay Central campus honors courses, and how to register for them, are also displayed on the Honors Courses page. 
  • Freshmen (Class of 2028) and Sophomores (Class of 2027) are required to see an advisor before their MHE hold can be released. 
  • Incoming Freshmen (Class of 2028): Macaulay QC Advising will reach out to you after you have accepted your offer of admission.

Find your Enrollment Appointment (Registration Date and Time)

  • After you have logged into your CUNYFirst account, open Schedule Builder.​
  • On the Welcome screen look under Enrollment Appointment or Open Enrollment Dates for upcoming semesters.

The days and times in the screenshot are examples. Student enrollment times may differ, please note that you should be seeing your enrollment date for the corresponding semester, and dates and times may vary for each student.


Registration Holds 

Do you need to clear a hold before you can register? Take action as soon as possible! 

  • Check CUNYfirst > Student Center > Tasks and Holds  
  • All Macaulay Freshmen and Sophomore students will have an MHE hold, preventing courses from being added or dropped. This will be cleared once you have met with your advisor.  
  • File FAFSA and TAP, and complete any Tasks (CUNYfirst > Student Center > Tasks and Holds), especially those related to financial aid  
  • Bursar holds (BUR, BIH, others) are due to unpaid tuition/fees. Pay or resolve to be able to register

Special Registration

The following departments will handle registration for their classes differently:

Chemistry

  • The Chemistry Department will register students early for a limited number of reserved seats in their courses
  • The Chemistry Department will register students early for a limited number of reserved seats in their courses​
  • See your advisor for the Chemistry registration form or see the Chemistry Dept. in Remsen 206.  
  • Chemistry seats are first-come-first-served. ​
  • Send completed forms to Ms. Kelly Barth (Kelly.barth@qc.cuny.edu) or you can drop it in the box outside of her office in the Chemistry Dept.​

Psychology

  • Seats in Psychology courses will be opened gradually, as few as 5 seats/per day. If your desired section fills quickly, don’t worry, try again tomorrow. 
  • Most 200+ level Psych courses are only open to students who have declared the Psychology major or minor, or Neuroscience major​
  • PSYCH 213W registration is restricted to those with 60+ credits​
  • Courses between PSYCH 311-321:​ Restricted to those with 90+ credits, with limited seats, and limited to one course in this range per student
