Presentation Methods
Macaulay Conference Sunday, May 6th
Moving away from PowerPoint: we all make fun of it, but we all use it! Presenting visually using multimedia resources provides a framework for engaging, concise presentations. Below are some tips for developing a concise, image driven presentation:
- Background research, synthesize the papers / course materials
- Discuss ideas with group. What is your message?
- Getting the message across:
- Define concepts and key people/events broadly
- How can you visualize them, and how they are connected
- Build the story. Use a storyboard for structure, flow
- Reassess what you still need so that your message is coherent
- Eliminate what you don’t need
- Practice!!!
