research group class sessions

class, the schedule that we arranged for group-run class sessions is: 4/10 public health; 4/17 parks; 4/24 education; 5/1 stop and frisk.  in general you should have a proposed set of readings/sources prepared one week ahead of your class session.  your selection of materials should be substantial enough to support class discussion/participation, but not so heavy that it overburdens and angers your classmates (maybe 3-5 sources, 50-75 pages, including at least one substantial scholarly source.)  you should also send me a brief plan for your class session by the preceding friday.  the plan should include a range of activities such as discussion, video clips, group/class activities, etc., in order to fill (as much as possible) 2.5 hours of class time.  be creative!

obviously the above deadlines do not apply to our pioneering public health specialists!  you should have readings and a class plan asap, with hopefully some ideas by the end of today (friday)?  feel free to contact me if you need assistance in coming up with class materials and preparing a class plan.

i’m looking forward to some interesting class sessions!
