Chelsea Hotel is where Hans and Rachel lived when they were evicted from their loft in Tribeca. At Chelsea Hotel, Rachel announces to Hans that she wants to leave New York and return to London with their son Jake. Rachel claims that she no longer enjoy the life in New York and she believes that is better for Jake if they move back to London. I think just like Hans’s family many immigrant families also experience this situation of where they want to return to their home country. Rachel and Jake’s departure plays an important role in this book. We can see that the miserable feeling that resulted from Rachel’s departure continue to persist throughout Han’s friendship with Chuck Ramkissoon.
