Meatpacking

The Meatpacking District is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Manhattan. The area runs roughly from West 14th Street south to Gansevoort Street, and from the Hudson River east to Hudson Street. The Meatpacking District gets its name from the meat packing houses that once ruled the area. Some meatpacking “houses” still exist, but the neighborhood has completely changed from the 1900s. It now is home to many luxurious and trendy night clubs, brand name stores and elegant restaurants.
