Harlem

Harlem is truly a unique area within a diverse New York City community. From the Harlem Renaissance to a changing community, its history is rich with race relations within the context of local and national politics. Support for gentrification and change has been strong, but so has opposition, and this makes Harlem a prime example of gentrification through various lenses such as demographics, crime, and transportation.
