Ukrainian Clothing
During major Christian holidays, weddings and other special events it is customary for Ukrainians to wear traditional clothing such as the ones in the pictures below. These clothes are virtually unavailable in NYC besides in one area of manhattan that has a Ukrainian store and a local flee market. Additionally, some women wear a traditional shawl over their head, which is not available anywhere for purchase. I would like to see how the Ukrainian population have adapted to still wear some semblance of the traditional garb and the role that Ukrainian store (Surma) has played in the lives of Ukrainian immigrants.
