If we pay any attention to the way people in New York dress, we notice some general differences from the dress of other places, especially from countries. Looking at clothing, particularly that of men (concerning especially the metrosexual trend, which is said to be waning), to what extent has New York clothing trends affected the dress of incoming immigrants? Their children? Does gender affect the extent to which people change the way they dress?
The difference in the extent to which people change the way they dress based on their gender is more specific and very interesting. This can also relate to how conservative an immigrant’s culture is or was before they arrived. The research could involve going to clothing stores in ethnic neighborhoods or seeing where certain groups shop or even how they absorb clothing trends from different kinds of media.
