I feel that one of the reasons I enjoyed Ender’s Game so much was because it completely challenged my way of thinking about the world. To see children as young as six tornĀ from their homes and families is already something challenging to wrap my mind around, but even further challenging is the fact that they so easily adapted to their new lives as soldiers.
My cousin is six years old, and I could never picture him in Ender’s place. He can hardly pronounce his “r’s,” so I can’t imagine him training in a top tier battle school. Yet, like Ender, I think he is desensitized to violence because of games. My cousin spends endless hours playing Star Wars Battlefront, and violence does not seem to phase him, much like how Ender and his fellow students grow numb to what the games really mean…
