The Metamorphosis, interpreted by A Royal Ballet Production featuring Edward Weston as the principal dancer, follows an apathetic, lifeless man’s transformation into a disgusting bug. With an amazing cast of beautiful dancers, the play displays the powerful emotions a family would feel when dealing with an unexpected change. Every step by Weston made you cringe, every noise made from the sound designer made you tremble, and every note played kept you in suspense of what was to become of Weston. Everything was brought together seamlessly into a well crafted picture scary enough to arouse nightmares. The white setting fixated adjacent to the black excrement contrasted the light and dark sides of life, the artificial and real life sounds rhythmically tuned us in sync with the movements, and the dancers strides pumped and contracted our emotions without a word spoken.
