South Bronx and Upper East Manhattan are two regions with high population of 50 years or older. Median Income Level of Upper East Manhattan: $243,622. Median Income Level of South Bronx: $18,846. Legionnaire’s Disease outbreak happened only in South Bronx. Two main possible reasons of outbreak in South Bronx: Poor maintenance of cooling towers by building owners and Poor health condition of general population in South Bronx caused by inability to pay for with health insurance, thus less likely to go for regular check-ups/doctor visits.
