Snapshot 2009

I really enjoyed the Snapshot 2009 day for Macaulay students. It was suprisingly a beautiful day in New York City that Sunday. The skies were clear and it was oddly warm weather to be mid-October. I knew I didn't want to take the event too literally--I didn't want to take a picture of an actual neighborhood. I wanted to take a picture of something that was important to me. The challenge was to take a picture of an area where you can imagine yourself when older, a place you can come home. The image of "home" is what led me to the Conde Nast building in Times Square. The home of major fashion magazines Vogue, W, Teen Vogue, and Allure, I view this building as a place I'd want to walk into and never leave. This building holds very close to my heart, since it holds the very companies that I aspire to work for upon graduation from college. When I was in front of the building, staring at the entrance, I felt a sense of "home" already, and I knew immediately this would be a great shot for the event. My next stop was Bryant Park, the home of New York Fashion Week. However, besides future career reasons, Bryant Park to me is one of the reasons I love New York. It is a truly beautiful park, and everytime I go, I feel at peace. Sometimes, I go to Bryant Park to just think, and it completely relaxes me. I see myself as continuing to go here when I am older, and is the reason why I chose it to be my second option.
