As soon as i arrived, there was a general feeling of being lost and purposelessness at the college. Many people had not arrived, and the general sense of the event was a "do it and go" kinda of thing. Therefore, I grouped up with my friends that I knew, made a small group and started filming random photographs that we liked.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/snapshot-0#comments laura nyc people and places Mon, 14 Dec 2009 00:27:50 +0000 Laura Abreu 477 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 SNAPSHOT @ Macaulay http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/snapshot-macaulay-0
Although many people didn’t like the Snapshot day at the Macaulay Honors building, I personally enjoyed it. I had the chance to meet and bond with the initial friends I made in the three orientation days from the different campuses earlier in the year. I do have to agree that the assignment was vague and unclear for some parts; however, it made it more challenging in the sense that we had to use our creativity even more so. We talked for a long time about how everyone was and went straight to work.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/snapshot-macaulay-0#comments nyc nyc arts people and places who we are Fri, 11 Dec 2009 20:32:42 +0000 im.mattlaw 471 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Art for the Community http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/art-community

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/art-community#comments baruch nyc arts painting people and places whitney Fri, 11 Dec 2009 18:06:34 +0000 whitney.porter 469 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Danzy Senna http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/danzy-senna

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/danzy-senna#comments baruch people and places Ross Mon, 07 Dec 2009 04:08:29 +0000 Ross Meneses 459 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 The House of the Dead Opera http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/house-dead-opera-2
The House of the Dead opera was the first opera I have ever seen. I have listened to opera music before and have always heard about opera but never experienced it for myself. When I think of opera I think of big people singing extremely loud. I picture those people that can hold a glass and make it break with their voices. All of this is silly and very stereotypical when it comes to opera. The House of the Dead was not what I expected to see. I am glad that it was not what I expected. I think this added to my experience.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/house-dead-opera-2#comments nyc nyc arts people and places Sun, 06 Dec 2009 16:06:27 +0000 Michelle Ranello 444 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Gerhard Richter @ Marian Goodman Gallery http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/gerhard-richter-marian-goodman-gallery
The Marian Goodman Gallery of New York City is currently hosting a Gerhard Richter show with a series of oil paintings called 911. Gerhard Richter is a painter who is revolutionary in the same way that Jackson Pollack was for the arts. Pollack began using a drip and splatter technique and at the time, this had never been seen before. In the same way, when Richter unveiled his first paintings, the artistic scene was in awe. He used a technique that smudged and blurred the oil paint colors that he used on the canvas.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/gerhard-richter-marian-goodman-gallery#comments jolene nyc nyc arts painting people and places Mon, 30 Nov 2009 06:38:33 +0000 Jolene 430 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 Tim Burton Exhbit http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/tim-burton-exhbit
Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA yet, but I hope I get to. (I had to do a lot of work this weekend.) I just think that Tim Burton is a great artist/director/producer with his macabre yet comical imagry and his eccentricity. Although the only movie of his I know I saw was The Nightmare Before Christmas, I do hope one day to see Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, and Beetlejuice, among other movies.

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/tim-burton-exhbit#comments nyc arts people and places sculpture Mon, 30 Nov 2009 02:51:18 +0000 Alex Greetham 427 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09 New York Historical Society http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/new-york-historical-society

http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09/content/new-york-historical-society#comments nyc people and places who we are Tue, 24 Nov 2009 20:46:37 +0000 Michelle Ranello 401 at http://macaulay.cuny.edu/seminars/bergman09
