It is a story in which there was great despair in the homeland most likely because of poverty or persecution and much opportunity in the United States. It is a difficult life the first generation immigrants have lived, but it was hopefully for the best. And I am sure your father had you in mind when making his decision. This project is tied to the idea behind the Who He/She Was projects as well. I feel that this is a project many of us coming from immigrant families can relate to.
