Irony is a beautiful thing in life. As the audience takes their seats, anticipating this controversial play of Nigerian oil politics, a small pale white man appears on stage, people stare at him with curiosity. Was there something that needed fixing? Were we about to be told that the show was canceled because sickness has befallen on their actors? (more…)

On August 23rd, our class joined other Macaulay Honors College first-year students at a performance of Spring Awakening on Broadway.

” ‘You see Dan baby, everybody gets kidnapped here! Hey Randy man, tell Dan baby about being kidnapped

‘Yeah I been kidnapped. Plenty times. First time was in ‘92, Offshore. Chained up to oxygen and acetyline bottles. Yeah it was scary. Lasted about 7 or 8 days.’ “

Kidnapping, Violence; just two of the multitude of evils plaguing Nigeria. Dan Hoyle successful captures this disturbing reality through the production of “Tings dey Happen”, hosted by The Culture Project. A comical one-man play, the actor uses contorted and exaggerated face expressions, and different accents to represent various characters. However, this unique performance is not without its downfalls. (more…)
