• Koreatown aka Korea Way

A) Recreating old country/authenticity/culture -Korean immigrants arrived and set up shop in hopes of catering to the growing Korean population in New York City -Korean cuisine and shopping Cuisine: Kimchi (relish made of fermented vegetables), Banchan (side dishes), Bulgogi (beef dishes), Bibimbap (mixed rice) -Korean art gallery: Hun gallery (contemporary art) -Museum: Lee Young Hee Korea Museum (dresses/costumes)

B) Economy -Vertical set up -Restaurants: Kum Gang San, Mandoo Bar, Hangawi, New York Kom Tang Soot Bui Kal Bi --Shops: Sun Plaza, Koryo Books, Han Ah Reum (super market), Yi Pak Spa, video rental -Doctor Offices, Korean Bank, hair saloons, cell phone service, Koryodang (bakery) -Karaoke Bars and cafes -Customers: Not just Koreans. Tourists, locals, students

C) Nightlife -Many stores opened for twenty-four hours Karaoke: Grammy Karaoke, Gagopa Karaoke Places to drink and talk: Bubble tea cafes, café metro, Baden Baden (bar) Nightclubs

D) Assimilation -Advertisements with Korean words and English translations -Combinations of Korean and Japanese Restaurants -Stores that sell Korean and American products: Cici Cosmetics
