Welcome to Professor Quinby’s course on Sexuality and American Culture at Macaulay Honors College!

You can create your weekly posts by clicking the “Site Admin” link in the sidebar to the right, under “Meta.” This will bring you to the Dashboard.

In the left hand column, find “Posts” and select “Add New.” Enter your weekly blog post, share an article, etc. The “Visual” tab will provide you with an editing toolbar similar to that of a word processor; the “HTML” tab gives code and is where you would go if you wish to embed a YouTube or other similar media (which you would do using the embed code provided by the media’s host).

Remember to add the “more tag” (found on the Visual tab’s editing toolbar) to have only the first few sentences of your post visible on the main page with a “click here to read more” link.

Finally, remember to check the appropriate “categories” for your post, which will normally include the reading(s) to which that particular post refers, as well as your name.  You can also create “tags” which are a less-formal way of indexing the topics that are covered in your posts, and may represent ideas and themes that you bring up in your writing.  These “tags” will begin to create a cloud in the right sidebar that will become a visual representation of the ideas addressed in your posts throughout the semester.
