Some reminders regarding Wednesday…

  1. 500-word reviews are due. Post review here for everyone to read. Turn in printed copy (double-spaced please!) to me. Comment on each other’s work, esp. if you have something constructive to say.
  2. We’re meeting off-site for our field trip to some of Chelsea’s art galleries. Meet no later than 3pm at the corner of 22 St. and 10th Ave. Closest subway is C/E at 23 & 8t Ave. Or take a cross-town bus on 23 St. Or walk. Or all of the above. Just get there on time. Wear comfortable shoes and don’t bring your heavy backpacks etc. if possible. We’ll be walking a fair amount.
  3. In the evening we’re attending ‘Fall for Dance’ at City Center. It’s opening night! There will be four performances, by various dance companies. Arrive earlier no later than 7:45pm. The performance begins at 8pm. City Center is at W 55th Street, between 6th & 7th Avenues in mid-town Manhattan. Close to just about every subway – directions are here.

Presenting… “End of Lines”!

To celebrate the First Irish Festival in New York City, five Irish artists each wrote thirty-minute plays expressing the images they have of the New York City subway system. These five plays make up the play “End of Lines”. Each written by different writers and performed by different actors, the plays in “End of Lines” not only shows the common thoughts about the New York City subway system but also the different lives of New Yorkers. How to Write & Publish a Post

Creating a post for the blog is pretty straightforward.

  1. click the ‘Log In’ link that you see in the left-hand column in the ‘Meta’ area
  2. enter your username and password
  3. when you’re logged in you’ll be taken automatically to the blog’s “dashboard”, where you’ll see a button to ‘Write a New Post” – click that button
  4.

  5. give your post a title in the ‘title’ area
  6.

  7. enter the content of your post in the ‘post area’ – use the basic formatting buttons if you want to format your text – if you know HTML, you can use it if you click the ‘HTML’ button – if you want to add a photo or other media, click the gray star next to ‘Add media’
  8. click ‘Preview this Post’ to see what your post will look like, then make changes if necessary
  9. when you’re happy with your post click ‘Publish’ to put it on the blog – or, if you’re not ready to publish yet, click ‘Save’ and your post will be saved as a draft but not published. 

If you can’t log in, you need to contact Lynn ASAP.

Check Out New Header!

Check out your classmate, Alyssa’s, header photo – the colors are great!  If you can’t see it, log out and back in again, and then refresh a few times. Until we get a few more photos (at least 4 but we can accomodate more), I’ll keep the others as placeholders. If you have a photo you’d like to see up there, send it along! //Lynn
