Thank you Lynn and Zoe!!!
Dear Zoe,
Thank you so much for this fun and at times, challenging semester. I have never learned so much about podcasts and videos and would have never imagined doing creative works. Like most of my classmates, I thought I was done with art long time ago. However, you taught us the beauty and treasure of art. Art is not just limited to visual art, words, and theater, etc. but art is almost anything that is unique to us. What struck me particularly was when you gave us your “speech” in the end of class when you said it was your responsibility to better the world the way you feel best. Well, I agree! Our world is filled with so many garbage and useless things but if we all create something that is important to us, the world would be better.
Dear Lynn,
Thank you so much for your help. Your instructions on how to put up podcasts and your guidance in all the technological skills necessary for this class really helped! Also, I was glad you came with us not just to help with technology, but you also came to look at the galleries with us. You made time for our questions and you always did your best to solve our problems. Thanks again!

Next week, Wednesday Dec. 9
Next week we will meet in the classroom at our usual class time.
In the evening we will attend our last group event, a performance of The Brother/Sister Plays at the Public Theater, 425 Lafayette St., NYC (just below Astor Place, near Cooper Union). The performance begins at 8pm and ends at about 10:45pm. Plan accordingly!
The Brother/Sister Plays is a trilogy of three plays that do not need to be seen together or all at once. We’ll be seeing parts 2 & 3, The Brothers Size and Marcus, or the Secret of Sweet. These 2 plays are the “brother” plays; part one, which we will not be seeing, is the “sister” play. (FYI, the student ticket rate for any show at the Public Theater is usually $20, in case you wanted to go on your own to see more).
Here’s the NYTimes review of the trilogy. And, here’s an interview with the writer and directors.

Wednesday is Opera day!
On Wednesday we are meeting at the Metropolitan Opera House (Lincoln Center) for a 3pm backstage tour. We will meet in the main lobby/box office area. Arrive by 2:45pm so you can check your coats, etc. If possible please do not bring large bags with you.
I believe the tour will last an hour or so. Then you will have free time to do as you please until evening when we will see “From the House of the Dead”.
Here is a link to a terrific video interview with the opera’s director, check it out: From the House of the Dead
The opera begins at 8pm. You should arrive early. The lobby is lovely to admire, there is usually an art show in the gallery and there are nice posters downstairs and it is just good theater and fancy-ness all around. You are welcome to come as you are or dress as you want. I am bringing my binoculars (oops I should say opera glasses).
I am looking forward to seeing all of you, I missed you last week! But watching and listening to your creative work kept me connected. I had no idea how many talents you all have. It was good stuff from start to finish.

Creative Work, and Happy Thanksgiving
I’ve been enjoying watching and listening to your creative works. As usual everyone took a different approach, which keeps things lively and more importantly teaches me about you, your creativity, and your approaches to problem-solving. Great work, and I thank you.
A few of you (Shelly, Joseph) have your videos marked as “private” on YouTube and as a result the rest of us mere mortals cannot view your work. You need to log in to your YouTube accounts and change this setting for the video.
Others of you have not yet posted your work; do not delay!
To everyone, I hope your Thanksgivings are wonderful.

Sad news…
The artist known as Jeanne-Claude, who along with her husband Christo made wrapping famous structures their artistic calling card, died Wednesday night at a New York hospital from complications of a brain aneurysm, according to reports. She was 74.
Recognizable by her orange-dyed hair, Jeanne-Claude was a fixture of the international art scene and was a highly visible New York personality. Along with Christo, she created “The Gates,” a 2005 public art project consisting of 7,503 orange rectangular structures draped with fabric and erected throughout Central Park.
