We lived on Yetman just below the Boulevard. One thing that I have never been able to find information about was the sidewalks that existed on the side roads that were what we called the crossroads, These were dirt roads that were built with no housing. They were abandon hidden in the over growth on the side of the roads. On story was they were built as part of a government project during the Great Depresi0n but I was never able to find any one who could confirm this. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Is it still standing? Does it go by another name? If so, when did the name change?

The Staten Island dock is located only a short walk away from the Tottenville train station.”

The Tottenville-Perth Ambody ferry did not stop running until October 1963.

Did this occur in 1903?

Comment on St. George by Jennifer McGurk https://eportfolios.macaulay.cuny.edu/siwaterfront12/introduction/st-george/#comment-611 Mon, 30 Jul 2012 16:52:11 +0000 http://eportfolios.macaulay.cuny.edu/siwaterfront12/?page_id=542#comment-611 St. Peter’s Girls HS closed due to lack of students, not because the NYC DOE wanted the site for PS 59. The Archdiocese of NY made the decision to close the High School and the NYC DOE had nothing to do with that decision. The way your paragraph reads, you make it seem like the NYC DOE wanted the site, so St. Peter’s Girls HS was forced to close….very misleading
