Libreria Barco de Papel allowed me to learn about the Spanish culture and language. When I first entered the bookstore located in Elmhurst, I was surprised at how small it was. It also felt a bit crowded with books everywhere. There was a home like atmosphere. Interviewing to the co-owner, Paula, gave me insight into the bookstore. It was inspiring seeing the motive the owners, Paula and Ramon, have. They hope to spread the Spanish culture and language in the community. They have several free cultural programs for the youth which amazes me. They truly believe in connecting people to the country their originate from.  I took Spanish for three years in high school, and I never appreciated the language. It was all just memorizing vocabulary and learning different tenses. Entering this bookstore, I learned to value the Spanish language. This project opened my eyes to the significance in maintaining culture by simply visiting a bookstore.
