When is SPACE?
SPACE 2024 will take place in February. You may attend any of the sessions.
Who is participating in this event?
This event is for students taking Macaulay Seminar 2, The People of New York. Faculty are also welcome to attend.
How do I get disability accommodations?
The Macaulay building is wheelchair accessible, but the event does involve moving around the neighborhood near the building. If you require any accommodations during the event, please note that on your registration form in the accommodations box.
What should I bring and wear?
Some workshops may spend time outside, so please dress for the weather. Bring your device (a laptop if you have one), a notebook or paper, and something to write with. We will not provide refreshments, but you are welcome to bring your own snacks.
How much walking will there be?
Some workshops will include short walks in the vicinity of Macaulay. If you have any mobility or other concerns, please note that on your registration.
What does SPACE stand for?
SPACE stands for Society, People, Architecture, Culture, and Eportfolios.

What Will I Learn?
SPACE Learning Goals
Students will have an opportunity to practice skills they will need for their Seminar 2 Common Project.
- Students will create an eportfolio account and manage profile if needed
- All students will successfully login, create, post, and add media to an eportfolio site.
- Students will learn the basics of one social science research method. Common methods covered at SPACE include observation, interviewing, and mapping.
- Students will discuss and learn methods for translating their practice research into digital content
- Students will share their research as digital content on a public-facing website.

Students will also have the opportunity to talk with CUNY doctoral candidates who are staff at our Teaching and Learning Collaboratory, and experts in a variety of fields, including representatives from social sciences!
