Impact of Oceanic Heat Content and CO2 Levels on the Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef, which is located on the north-east coast of Australia is among the many coral reef systems all over the world that have become threatened ecosystems. Due to the changes in overall physical and chemical aspects of the ocean, the overall sea surface temperature has generally increased, causing coral bleaching, including a decline in calcification caused by ocean acidification.

We were inspired by the use of iNaturalist during the Bioblitz, and decided to use iNaturalist observations as our method of measuring biodiversity.
