During the Revolutionary war, 11,500 soldiers were captured by the British and left on damaged warships. Today, there is a 149-ft doric column to commemorate that, but is that enough? There isn’t even a sign on the crypt in the middle of the stairs holding various body parts that have been found in the river. So this is a proposal for a statue of a soldier with information detailing the rich history of the park that will encourage visitors to appreciate its past.
