Harlem: Owner Occupied Housing, 1980 and 2010

In the past 30 years the amount of housing in central-to-lower Harlem/Morningside Heights owned by those who occupy it has risen by roughly 20% to 40%. A similar phenomenon occurred in the northern section of the Upper West Side, pictured. This percentage has remained stagnant in southeastern Harlem, when the neighborhood meets the Upper East Side at around 10%.
