As Jen explained during the walk this pier is one of the best examples of changing spaces in Greenwich Village. Once this pier was a haven for the gays, lesbians, and other locals. A spot for first dates and a place for people to strut their stuff. The pier was renovated in recent years into bike paths, running paths, and green areas. A lot of the influence came from newer residents such as those living in the new condos (glass building in left side of picture).
