The Three Sisters are the unusual rock formation rock formation in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. The legend has it that the three sisters had a father, who was a witch doctor. When he goes out to search for food, he would leave his daughters safely on the cliff behind a rocky wall. One day, after the father left, a large centipede suddenly appeared and one of the sisters threw a stone at the centipede. The stone rolled over the cliff, crashing into the valley below which angered the Bunyip.
As the Bunyip began to approach the girls, to protect them from harm, their father used his magic bone to turn them into stone. Angered by this, the Bunyip then began to chase the father. Becoming trapped, in order to flee from the Bunyip, he changed into a magnificent Lyre Bird, yet in the process dropped his magic bone. They were now safe from the Bunyip, but the magic bone was never to be found.
The Lyre Bird has been searching for this magic bone ever since. Remaining in rock formation, The Three Sisters stand silently overlooking the valley hoping that one day they will turn them back to former selves.
If you listen carefully you may be able to hear the Lyre Bird as he continues his quest for his lost magic bone.
We went on a class trip to the luxury 5-star Shangri–La Hotel, Sydney. It’s about 7 minutes walk from Circular Quay station. It is a beautiful place with Cosmopolitan lounge with soaring windows and harbour views. (The last post is the view from the lounge). The Blu Bar on 36 is open to public. If you are in Sydney, definitely stop by and try their award winning cocktail.
When you’re in Aussie, you must eat your potato wedges with sour cream and sweet chili sauce – enough said.
After a day of exploring Sydney in joggers, we stopped by the 3 Wise Monkeys for a drink and learned the Australian Drinking Song.

He’s a Piss Pot through and through.
He’s a Bastard so they say,
And he’s not going to heaven.
He went the other way!
He’s going down! down! down! down! down!
We spent the entire day exploring Sydney – from the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and the Rocks Market to the hidden bar Loco Plantation. The views were just breathtaking!
