Hi everybody! As you work on your video mashups please remember that I am here to help with anything and everything! Especially, that is, the audio and visual editing process. Is the sound in your video messed up? Are you unsure about which shots to use, how long to keep them, or what sequence they should be in? Let’s talk about it! For now, here’s a little something about ‘continuity’ editing to get you thinking.
Hi everybody, if you haven’t done so already, please remember to upload your Snapshot Day photos (taken on October 11th) to the Macaulay Honors College Gallery Snapshot 2012 folder by November 7.
In order to do this, you’ll need to register as a Gallery user by clicking on the “register” icon at the top right hand corner of the Gallery website. (Make sure to change your password when prompted). Then click on the Snapshot 2012 folder, move your cursor over the “add” icon, and select “add photos”. Please add only one photograph to the folder, and remember to give it a title and a short description (select “edit this photo” to do this). Then you’re set! Take a look at the other photos and make kind and constructive comments to your heart’s content.

Hey everybody, please remember to categorize your posts by clicking on the appropriate category (e.g. “visual diary”, “video dialogue”) at the bottom right of the page when creating the post. Our website has been reconfigured slightly so that now all posts with the same category will be collected in a page with the same name, for easy reference. Thanks!
All right everyone, this Thursday, October 11 is Snapshot Day at Macaulay, which means that every student must take one photograph between 12:00am and 11:59pm on Thursday, then upload the photo to the Macaulay Honors College Gallery Snapshot 2012 folder by November 1.

Feel free to use any type of camera whatsoever for your snapshot! It could be a film or digital camera, the camera on your phone, or even just the camera on your laptop. Good Luck!
Hey everybody, I really encourage you to have your videos play directly in your posts, as opposed to placing a link to the video in the post. It means fewer steps for the viewer and makes it easier for us to watch each other’s videos (while also being more aesthetically pleasing). The key is to copy and paste the embed link in html mode. I have done this for all your existing posts, but from now on you should do it. Here are the instructions again:
Once your video is uploaded to YouTube, you can simply copy the content listed in the “embed” tab (not the “URL” tab) that is listed to the right of the screen (when you have the video open in YouTube). Paste the “embed” content into the post just like any other “Link.” When writing a post on the blog, switch to “HTML view” (the default is “visual”) and paste the embed content there. The “HTML” button is to the right of the editing buttons. As soon as the content is pasted, switch back to “visual” mode and continue the post (nothing else should be done in HTML mode unless you are comfortable with editing HTML). The video will then play directly in the post and will hardly take up any server space on the blog.
Click here for further instructions on uploading Video Content. Do not upload content directly from your laptop. The file is too large for the server to digest.
Hi everybody, when adding your personal pages, please make sure to place them under the heading “Scrapbooks”. In order to do this, click “add page”, and then look for the section on the right hand side of the screen where you can add a “parent”. Set “Scrapbooks” as the parent of your new page. That way everybody’s page will show up under “Scrapbooks” (which is under “Projects”) and not on the home page. Let me know if you have any questions!
Once you’ve created your page, you need to link it to your eportfolio. This is easy! Just go to the page you created, type whatever short title or introduction to the eportfolio you want, highlight the text, and then click the “Insert/edit link” button at the top of the page (it looks like a chain link). Once you’re there, copy and paste the url (web address) for your eportfolio into the ‘add link’ space. Then voila, the page will link to your eportfolio!
