Hello world, it’s Jeremy
Hello all, I’m Jeremy, your class ITF (Instructional Technology Fellow). Generally speaking my role is to support you (the students) and Prof. Tenneriello. This is my first year at Baruch but I’ve been working with students in college and high school for many years. I began my career education in Boston, Massachusetts where I taught English as a Second Language. After moving to the Bronx, I earned a Masters degree at Teachers College, Columbia University and worked as an English teacher, teacher-mentor and literacy coach at two small public schools: Pablo Neruda Academy and Bronx Latin. I also taught in the Department of Secondary Education at Brooklyn College.
These days, when I am not at Baruch, I am working on my dissertation (I am hoping for finish my doctorate in Urban Education this year), playing with my kids or going to the Y. In thinking about what image to upload for this assignment I selected a photo I took of my kids last spring when they were banging away at pots, pans and an improvised guitar (rubber bands stretched over a frisbee). Among the Arts of New York I most appreciate is the music of the city–those incidental sounds and rhythms that regular people make every day in every way.
