Hey from Beatrice!

Hey everyone! My name is Beatrice Margolin and I’m a freshman at Baruch College. I’m a Brooklyn girl born and raised, but my parents are originally from the former Soviet Union. Yes, I can speak Russian, though my family would argue I don’t speak it very well (because everyone’s a critic). I have one younger sister, making me the oldest and most powerful sibling in my house. My sister would disagree with the latter, but at this point it’s basically fact.

My parents are extremely big on the arts so I’ve been to plenty of museums both in New York City and around the world. I definitely appreciate art, but I wouldn’t say my tastes are very conventional–thankfully, neither is the art I admire. I prefer contemporary art so it’s no surprise that my favorite museums are the Whitney and the MoMa. However, my love for art also takes form in that of literature and writing. I spend most of my spare time reading a lot and not writing enough, but I’m working on finding a nice balance between the two. (When I’m not doing either, I’m most likely glued to Netflix.)

I change my mind on a daily basis about my intended major so it’s probably simpler to just leave that out. Hopefully I’ll have it figured out by the time I have to declare one (keeping my fingers crossed). Regardless, I’m very excited for the next four years to come, especially knowing that I’ll be spending it with a great group of people!

Graduation!!! Because, as of yet, I consider it to be my greatest accomplishment.
