This video is so beautiful. I love the symbolism behind the ending where the mom’s note and her actions are the equivalent of the words “I love you.” It shows that all of our families and cultures are different but we don’t always need words to express how we feel.

I really enjoyed your video-it was a very creative concept! I was wondering if there was a specific reason you chose to focus on the theme of expressing love across different cultures or why you chose to use symbolism throughout your video? What made you decide to focus on these ideas?

I really like the cinematography, the shots that were taken were a great mix of close-ups and mid-shots, as well as the length of some shots, like at the end when Yinglin left a message for her mom. The shots were never too quick, but they never lasted too long either. Overall, awesome video!

I liked the symbolism here I would have liked to see the homes and more diverse messages from the others in the project. Also what was the meaning behind deleting the text message “I love you” ?

Deleting “I love you” insinuates how affection does not have to be verbal and explicit but can be implied in our actions towards our loved ones, such as a father messaging his daughter to make sure she is safe.

I really liked how it begins the hesitation of saying “I love you” and then opens up the discussion for how different households express their love for each other. The shots were also great and easy to follow. At the end, the symbolism was clear that even though “I love you” was not explicitly stated, it was still implied.

I loved this video. It was really able to show how each relationship has a different dynamic and that love is not only expressed through words. We show love through our actions and concern as well, because love definitely runs deeper than simply stating it.
