This is a video I filmed on my walk to Barnes & Noble in Union Square. People held up signs that said “On Strike” and protested in circles outside this building. They were shouting, “New York City going up, going down,” while simultaneously moving their signs up and down. This protest was a choreography made to speak against injustice and performed by those affected.

The strike really does seem like a choregraphy with the synchronized motions and the chants. It highlights how powerful and how much they believe in the message that they are trying to convey.
I enjoyed viewing this post and how you caught a natural form of non-dance choreography in NYC. I think it is interesting that by performing in sync and choreographing a strike, it brings more power to the cause. Because there were a multitude of individuals, it shows the power in numbers of how to convey an idea to the public.
