Familiar Stranger

by Erin Ajello

Look at her
That girl
The mirrored form
Does she even know who she is?
A mess with a tearstained face
(some days)
A grin and heavy eyeliner head bobbing to an unknown beat
(not often enough)
A dress and accessories, hair done properly
(once in a while)
A dreamer staring into space playing with her hair
(more than admitted)
A writer with ink on her hands not even dressed yet
(most of the time)
A true typical teen, scowl and sneakers included
(too often)
I can look so dark, so tragic
(tiger tiger)
I can look so young, so innocent
(new born lamb)
But sometimes
Even I can’t recognize me
