You’re Home I’m Sick

by Erin Ajello

I need you
Take me home
I can’t feel from this far away
I can’t stand to be this far away
Where is my city?
Does she feel abandoned?
Oh, I never meant to leave her
Curse the world that made me leave her
And you!
Back at home in the place I love, my beautiful city keeping you warm
I love you both, yet I am stuck here
I love you both, but I can’t feel that from here
Your letters are beautiful, but your eyes more so
I’m tired of staring at photographs
All I want is to be back
Back in your arms,
How I miss the feeling
Back in your bed,
How I miss those soft sheets
My city mourns me,
White tears remaining until my return
Solidifying crystal on a ground I long to walk
I will come home my loves, though I know not when
Just know that I am dying to see you again
