Soapy Stuff and Pixie Dust

by Stephanie Montalti

Powdered puffs
Hang
In the air and in an instant,
Fall
To
The
Ground.
My knees don’t mind Mr. Harsh Concrete,
Neither do the creators.
Fingertips filled with pink in their soft grooves,
Grooves that take on green and purple and blue.
With one stroke, they bring a world,
A world of color.

The ground once harsh,
Leaving imprints on my thighs,
Smiles.
It takes on two eyes, a mouth, and
The best attempt at a circle.
Its ridges soften as I lay on my powdery magic.

The air gets a bit lonely,
Only seconds to grasp onto my magic.
Company is what it needs.

I release my wand.
Taking in air
I blow out and stare at circles that fear no height,
Enlarging the world through eager eyes.
I hold a wand with
mesmerizing swirls.
Swirls that deceive.
Transparent,
Yet rainbow to my eye.
Yes! Finally I have brought life.
A life all thanks to my powers,
A bit of soapy stuff and pixie dust.
