The boy with cupped hands approached me with desperation.  “Are you working on the return flight? He was on my bag and I can’t let him go here.”

I smiled as the boy revealed the frantic ant in his palm.

“He doesn’t speak French! Mom says I’ll learn but I don’t think he will. Do ants have schools for transfer students too?”
