you’ve heard the phrase “poetry in motion”
seen the posters in subway cars trying to inspire the masses
with paltry, pithy perspectives on the city, on life
more often getting ignored by those masses who are more concerned with
things that are not someone else’s words.
“poetry in motion.” no way.
how about the poetry of motion.
of her flexing leg muscles as she stretches before taking off like a rocket
of the baseball player as his entire body swings with his bat, vibrating with energy
of the way the sunlight sets his hair afire as he shakes it into his eyes
of the baby whose mouth opens for its very first cry.
each a poem in its own right
each a poem without words
“poetry in motion”
literally.
