Motionless

by Jessica Kraker

This is how you lose her on a Sunday night. This is how you lose her and I wish I wasn’t right. She came to you on a midnight star, she came for you in the back of her car. She gave it all, so sweet, so true. Even those nights you were all she knew. And when love was given it was all you took. And when liberties were taken, her shoulders shook. Don’t say you didn’t know. Don’t say you didn’t hear “no.” She trusted you, but not for long. The deceived finally gets to be the strong. This is how you lose her, with a vicious mouth and vacant stare. This is how you lose her, and I wish that you had cared.
