Thank you for visiting our e-portfolio about the history of Wall Street as repesented through photographs. Our project focuses on how Wall Street, the center of economic activity in not only New York, but in the United States, has changed over the past 192 years since the New York Stock Exchange was orginally established. We journey through the history of Wall Street, from its primative days, where a wall had existed to protect Dutch settlers from local Native Americans, to its reputation in the world today. We cover the good times and bad times that investors on Wall Street experienced. Along with the history aspect, we provide photographs showing how Wall Street physically changed over the years, thus representing the economic history of New York through photographs from the past and present.
