Broadway Culture in NYC

Rock of Ages is a musical on broadway, but I don’t like to call it a musical. I would rather call it a concert or an interactive concert. Most broadway musicals focus on the plot of the play while this focuses more on the music. I say it is interactive because it breaks the fourth wall, so to speak, meaning that the performers on stage interact with the audience as if they were not on stage performing in a play. The plot of Rock of Ages involves a young musician trying to make it in the world, tasked with the challenge of saving the bar he works at from being closed down as a result of eminent domain. Rock of Ages really captures the culture of broadway with its extremely diverse crowd. There were all kinds of people in the crowd, and people of all ages too, not just of the age of that music.
