About the Editor
Aligne Lavigne de Provence is an American born, Fashion Institute of Technology educated designer. Throughout her many years as a fashion designer, through her hard work and unique perspective she has garnered respect within the world of high fashion.
Some would go so far as to say she was never supposed to be a fashion designer. They say her lack fashion morals in middle school, with her tendency to wear sweat pants to school every day, should have killed any prospects of her creating a life for herself that breathed high fashion. There are some who say that if it was not her middle school attire that killed any future endeavors in fashion, it was most definitely her high school and college attire. Throughout her years during this time when fashion is supposed to be explored, exploited, and exposed, her average outfit consisted of a tee shirt, jeans, and Saucony sneakers.
Aligne’s fashion line has been shown in venues all over the world, and although she only has one location on Park Avenue in the upper west side, her clothing line has been distributed all over the world. In order to use genuine materials for her fashion line, in 2011 she acquired a gold mine in Tanzania and with government and residential area cooperation is about to be the owner of a diamond mine. In 2012, she was named Vogue Magazine’s “Most Promising Up Coming Designer” and in 2014 she was named, Vogue Magazine’s “Designer Who Has Arrived”.
We see through her current, fortunate circumstances, that it is not what a designer wears that makes the designer, but what the designer designs. The fashion world thanks her for this humble reminder.
